Enterprise XR Projects

Immersive virtual spaces for enterprise employees

Overview

Skills

My team designed, developed, and launched Accenture’s first VR experiences on Meta’s Horizon Worlds to expand the firm’s XR offerings. The three expriences were “Into the Nanoverse“, “Small World, Big Journey”, and “Juneteenth Entrepreneurial Gallery.” On each project I functioned as an interaction designer, spatial designer, 3D modeler, and developer.

Into the Nanoverse

"Into the Nanoverse" was commissioned by the Accenture team supporting Meta's Platform & AI practice to establish a virtual space tailored to their new joiners. In the experience, the new members are able to learn more about the team's culture, meet with leaders in a private office space, socialize in a collection of activity-filled areas, and, and most excitedly, collaborate on an action-packed mission to become a part of exclusive "The Hall of Legends.

Selected Interactions

Knowledge Stations allows users to learn fun facts about the team and its culture. The stations were optimized for users’ goals and beginner-intermediate level VR familiarity over several iterations. The end result incorporates proximity detection points to auto sleep inactive stations, support for various user input methods (eg. Virtual wands vs “point and click”), per player audio capabilities to guide users without disrupting their peers, and more.

Mission Helmets allow users to track their distance to the special items that need to be collected to complete the mission. The visors also flash red to indicate when a user has been hit by an enemy.

Private Office Spaces are equipped with a collection of features to control privacy. The room features a doorbell that allows occupants to review and determine access for other users as well as voice controls to keep private discussions private. There is also a collection of gadgets to aid in the facilitation of meetings such as markers, whiteboards, post-its, laser-pointers, and timers (which are all tricky to design and develop in Horizon Worlds). We also included an interactive drone to wow guests!

Mission Blasters are equipped with small displays that track remaining ammo, mission progress, and the user’s health.

Small World, Big Journey

"Small World, Big Journey" was a VR experience for Meta employees to explore during the holiday season while contributing to Accenture’s sustainability initiatives. User’s completed mini games in a gnome forest, troll family’s dinner table, and icy snow globe to gain to a seed that could be planted with the Tree of Life. When a seed was planted in the game, a real-life tree donation would be made through One Tree Planted. The initiative led to the planting of more than 100 trees.

Selected Interactions

Interactive Creatures are scattered throughout the experience to provide guidance and information to users. They are proximity based and render individually for each player.

Ice Bridge Quiz requires users to answer a series of questions to progress over the bridge. Jumping onto the correct answer/tile allows users to move onto the next question. Incorrect answers drop them into the snowy valley below but save their progress status. Successfully crossing the bridge grants users with access to their magic seed.

Soup Shape Matcher is a mini game that requires users to identify food items within a giant bowl of soup and drop them in containers nearby. Completion brings users one step closer to gaining their magic seed.

Planting Seeds is done by treking up the tree of life and dropping a magic seed into an empty plot. As the seed grows into a full sized plant, the user is provided with additional information about the One Tree Planted initiative.

Juneteenth Entrepreneurship Gallery

This experience was created for Accenture’s African American ERG to commemorate Juneteenth and highlight the amazing work of various Black entrepreneurs around the country. Partners, leaders, and employees had the opportunity to visit booths where they could mingle with these entrepreneurs and kickstart important dialogues and connections.

Info Screens located around each entrepreneur’s booth allowed visitors to better understand the goals of the businesses and strike more engaging conversations with the founders. Each panel was automated using proximity sensors.

Keypads allowed moderators to ensure security on the public platform and control the flow of users into the main galleries as not to overload the platform. Users simply had to enter the previously provided access code to enter the gates.

Role Tags allowed visitors to quickly identify founders and moderators throughout the space.

Selected Interactions

History Stations located in the gathering area featured mini games and interactions that, once completed, revealed fun facts about Black entrepeneurs, inventors, and more.
